In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 24 May 2025 at 12:30 PM, approximately 10 so-called PDF terrorists arrived at Mate Kone Village in Mahlaing Township of Mandalay Region, using a light truck and two motorcycles. The terrorists abducted U Aung Myint Kyi (65 years old), a 100-household elder, U Myint Aung (68 years old), U Aung Min (66 years old), U Kyaw Moe (under investigation), Daw Khin Win (under investigation) and Daw Cho (under investigation), all residents of the village. The terrorists took them to the Mate Kone-Taung Yoe Tal junction. There, the terrorists released U Kyaw Moe (under investigation), Daw Khin Win (under investigation) and Daw Cho (under investigation). However, U Aung Myint Kyi, U Myint Aung and U Aung Min were shot dead by the terrorists at the junction, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
