In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 21 May 2025 at 12:10 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Yin Tike Myaung Village, Letpadan Township of Bago Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, they discovered that the victim was identified as U Ohn Than (68 years old), 100-household elder and resident of the village. The incident occurred while he was on the road west of his house, two so-called PDF terrorists arriving by motorcycle and opened fire on him. As a result, U Ohn Than died on the spot, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killing of administrative official in the aforementioned case, it is reported.
