Security personnel are conducting patrols, blocked searches and surprise checks of the guest list in the wards of Mandalay region to ensure there are no bombing attacks, robberies, banditries or crimes that might cause panic among the public and also making utmost efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the crimes that happened earlier.
In this regard, the security personnel were conducting blocked searches and surprise checks of the guest list in the wards of Mandalay Region to identify and arrest the perpetrators of bombing attacks using explosives with the intent to scare the people in Mandalay Township. In doing so on the evening of 12 June, security personnel received a report stating that two men holding a grenade and a dagger were threatening the staff of the Royal Star Restaurant located at the corner of 43rd (A) Street and 61st Street, Mahar Myaing (2) Ward. Following further investigation, security personnel managed to arrest the suspect U Win Myaing (56 years old) (s/o) U Chit Khin along with an MG-1 grenade, a dagger (13 inches in length) at his house in Da-9/106, Mahar Myaing (1) ward, Mahar Aung Myay Township as well as another suspect Kyaw Zayar (39 years old) (s/o) U Kyaw Htay Aung with a dagger at his apartment in Aungmyay Mandalar staff housing at 1:00 AM on 13 June respectively and further thorough investigation reportedly continued.
Similarly, security personnel also arrested Paing Soe (aka) Paing Paing Soe (aka) Shrish Bi (32 years old) (s/o) U Aung Than, who had repeatedly committed robberies in the wards of Mandalay City and vicinity, at his house in Bone Aoe village, Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region at 12:30 PM on 13 June.
Investigation revealed that Paing Soe (aka) Paing Paing Soe (aka) Shrish Bi had served four years of imprisonment for a theft case and a robbery case. It was also found that the suspect had also committed seven crimes together with Myo Min Latt, a resident of Lat Pan village of Kyaukse Township (at large) robbing people on motorbikes of goldware at seven locations: near Jade Pagoda on Yangon-Mandalay highway, near Jade Pagoda on Myitnge-Sagaing road, near a mental hospital on Myitnge-Ohnchaw road, near Natyaykan village on Yangon-Mandalay old highway, Dagondine roundabout on Yangon-Mandalay old highway in Pyigyidagon Township and near temp car deport on 73rd Street. Security personnel continue taking measures to seize the items of evidence and arrest the suspect Myo Min Latt who is still at large.
Likewise, thanks to a tip-off provided by concerned citizens and information obtained from security equipment, suspects who robbed Sky Mobile Phone and Paradise Mobile Phone shops of 25 different smartphones in Aungmyethazan and Maha Aungmye Townships, Mandalay Region, on June 2 and 12, 2024 were apprehended. Suspect Kyaw Zin Khant (aka) Nga Pyu, (20 years old) (s/o) U Zaw Minn Naung, was arrested for his involvement in a robbery that occurred at 11:00 AM on June 13, 2024 in Room No. B at the “New Shwe Hteik Tan” guesthouse, located in the alley between 69th and 70th streets, 38th street, Mahar Nwezin Ward, Maha Aungmyae Township. Additionally, Hein Min Soe (aka) Phoe Thar (28 years old) (s/o) U Soe Myint was arrested in Room No. 305 at the “Maple” guesthouse on 112th Street, between 57th Street and 58th Street, Kantharyar Ward, Chanmyaetharsi Township. The arrests led to the seizure of nine types of iPhones, seven Redmi A3 phones and seven swords used in the commission of the crimes.
According to the testimony of Kyaw Zin Khant (aka) Ng Pyu and Hein Min Soe (aka) Phoe Thar the fugitive Moe San Aung (aka) Pi Si (29 years old) (s/o) U Aye Saung and resident of Lepanhla Village, evacuated him by motorcycle after committing the robbery of mobile phone shops. Yan Kyaw (34 years old) (s/o) U Khin Maung Win, Maung Maung Chit (29 years old) (s/o) U Mauk and Htay Min Thu (34 years old) (s/o) U Thein Maung who are mortgagees of the robbed smartphones, along with Khine Zar Lin (20 years old) (s/o) U Lin Htein, Thet Thet Oo (16 years old) (s/o) U Aung Myo Win and Phwe Phwe Hlaing (aka) Myo Thander Hlaing (16 years old) (s/o) U Naing Win who are involved in selling the mobile phones, were arrested at their houses at 14:00 PM.
Further investigations have indicated that three suspects Kyaw Zin Khant (aka) Ng Pyu, Hein Min Soe (aka) Phoe Thar and Moe San Aung (aka) Pi Si (who is still at large) committed motorcycle robberies using knives in the urban areas of Mandalay in June. One CZI-type identification motorcycle was seized in connection with these cases and efforts are underway to gather more items of evidence.
Lawsuits have been opened against a total of 11 suspects involved in the robbery of the mobile phone shops and theft of gold items from tourists, during which they threatened to detonate grenades to cause panic among the people in Mandalay's urban quarters. The security personnel are taking necessary steps to arrest additional suspects in accordance with the law. The Myanmar Police have issued a notification requesting that people secretly report the activities of terrorists and miscreants to the relevant security agencies.
