12 Myanmar Nationals and 295 Chinese Nationals Apprehended with Evidence in Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay Region, and Tachileik Township, Eastern Shan State

     On June 27, 2024 at 1:30 AM, a collaboration team, including security personnel and witnesses, searched and raided the house of Htin Shan, who had been reported to be engaged in illegal online gambling. The house is located on 117th Street between 61st and 62nd Streets in (Ga Gyi) Ward, Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay Region.
     During the search, authorities discovered and seized various items related to illegal online gambling in the living room on the top floor of Htin Shan's house. Htin Shan (32 years old) house owner and son of U Aung Naing, was arrested for renting out the premises for illegal online gambling. Also apprehended were Yan Win Myint (aka) Kyan Wang Yi (21 years old) and son of U Kyaw Win, from Nan Oo Lwin Ward in Patheingyi Township, who served as the manager Law Kwin Kywan (26 years old) and son of U Law Su Yaung, from Khyon Shan Village in Laukine Township, who was the supervisor and Zin Mar Htway (aka) Yin Yone (19 years old) and daughter of U Ma Kyin Eam from No. (4) Ward in Tamoenye Town, who was an employee involved in illegal online gambling, was one of nine individuals, including one man and eight women. In total, there were 12 suspects, including the house owner, along with six laptops used for illegal online gambling, 63 mobile phones, 110 lakhs of MMK, six national identification cards, and other related items.
     Similarly, on June 28, at 5:45 PM, a collaboration team, including security personnel and witnesses, went for a raid to house No. (ma-3/232) on Lun Kying Street in Parset Ward, Tachileik Township, Eastern Shan State. The operation was based on reports of Chinese nationals illegally staying and operating online gambling activities. During the search, authorities found and seized a total of 295 Chinese nationals 288 men and 7 women who were staying in the house without identification. Additionally, 900 mobile phones used for online gambling and other related items were confiscated.
     The 12 Myanmar nationals and 295 Chinese nationals who were arrested in connection with the above incidents of illegal online gambling are currently under investigation to ensure appropriate legal action, it is reported.
