The identification found that on 24 September at 07:30 PM, six terrorists including KNU members who support terrorism and a so-called PDF terrorist group entered the Village on three motorcycles, and arrested the abbot U Waiponela. When they reached on the Minkyaing-Kyeintawmyaung Road located west of the Village, the terrorists opened fire on the abbot. As a result, the abbot U Waiponela was dead from three gunshot injuries; one to his forehead, one to his neck and one to his left shoulder, it is reported.
As a result of these acts of terrorism, 87 Buddhist monks and one nun in the state have passed away, and the security personnel are diligently conducting search operations and implementing area lockdowns to apprehend and bring to justice the individuals responsible for the aforementioned incident, it is reported.
