It has been heartbreakingly found that extremists engaging in political terrorism are committing acts of sabotage within the country. These acts include firing upon and detonating explosives, specifically targeting and destroying religious buildings and monasteries sacred to the Buddhist people of Myanmar. Additionally, they are abducting and brutally killing Buddhist monks.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 9 May, 2024 at 7:20 AM, Bhante U Khay Mar Sarya (aka) U Bo Myint (54 years old and had spent two years in monkhood), from the Kone Thar-U Monastery in Myoma Ward, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, was going around the ward to accept food offerings. While the monk was next to the Shwebo–Ye-U Road, three so-called PDF terrorists who had been waiting for him, opened fire before fleeing the scene. As a result, Bhante U Khay Mar Sarya (aka) U Bo Myint suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to a temporary hospital set up within the compound of the Basic Education High School in Depayin Town for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are investigating the aforementioned incident to ensure that punitive action is taken against the terrorists who injured the monk, in accordance with the law. This is part of broader efforts to maintain stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
