In States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating explosives on public roads and bridges, tergeting ceremony areas, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars, and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 26 January at 1:30 PM, a so-called PDF terrorist group (the exact number is under investigation) carried out an attack by dropping a bomb using a drone. This occurred during a ceremony to pay homage to teachers, which attended 13 teachers and 261 students, at the Sub Basic Education High School in Thitchokone Village of Pauk Township, Magway Region. The attack was originated from Kyaukkar Village, located approximately two miles northwest of the school. The bomb exploded on the open ground approximately six feet in front of the Headmaster’s office, resulting in damage to three window panes. Fortunately, there were no injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting an investigation into the incidents involving attacks by dropping a bomb using a drone. These attack targeted a ceremony paying homage to teachers, with the apparent intent of injuring teachers and students, which resulted in the mentioned earlier. The aim of this investigation is to take punitive action against the terrorists involved. This action is in accordance with the law and is geared towards upholding stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
