In some townships across States and Regions, so-called PDF terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 15 August, 2024 at 8:45 AM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Shan Pyone Chaung Village, Taungoo Township of Bago Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was U Myint Aung (52 years old), a 100-household elder and resident of the village. The incident occurred on 14 August, at 11:30 PM. While the victim was walking along the main village road, six so-called PDF terrorists arrived by three motorcycles and opened fire on him. As a result, the victim died on the spot, it is reported.
Similarly, on 15 August, at 10:00 AM, a report stated that a woman was shot dead in Bo Kone (West) Village, Oaktwin Township. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was Daw Htay Htay (aka) Khin Htway (51 years old), a resident in Yae Lal Khon Village of Taungoo Township. The victim was travelling to Taungoo Town in a white six-wheeled vehicle (License Plate No. BGO-27 3Q/XXXX HINO DUTRO) along the Yae Lal Khon-Bo Kone- Kyat Tat Nyaung Pin Village Commutable Road. When the vehicle was on the Bo Kone (West) Village road, a so-called PDF terrorist forced the vehicle to stop and opened fire on Daw Htay Htay (aka) Khin Htway accusing her of being a “Decoy”. As a result, Daw Htay Htay (aka) Khin Htway died on the spot, it is reported.
Similarly, on 15 August, at 6:20 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Ai Zauk Village, Paukkhaung Township. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was U Thint Lwin (58 years old), a resident of the village. While the victim was in an upland field approximately four furlongs east of his house, five so-called PDF terrorists arrived by three motorcycles and opened fire on him. As a result, U Thint Lwin died on the spot, it is reported.
Similarly, on 15 August, at 7:20 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in U-Tho Village, Pantanaw Township of Ayeyawady Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was Myae Nu Village Tract Administrator U Thant Zin (47 years old), a resident of Myae Nu Village. While the victim was returning from U-Tho Village to his village along with his son, Ko Hla Myo Thant, on a motorcycle along the Pantanaw-Shwe Laung road, two so-called PDF terrorists who were following them on another motorcycle, opened fire on U Thant Zin and then fled. As a result, U Thant Zin died on the spot, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative officials and innocent civilians in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
