Administrative Officials and Innocent Civilians Recklessly Assassinated by Terrorists

     In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 4 November, 2024 at 5:30 PM, a report stated that a woman was shot dead in No. 4 Ward, Kha Mauk Kyi Town, Kawthoung Township of Tanintharyi Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was Ward Administrator Daw Win Htay (48 years old) and resident of the ward. The victim was at her house when four so-called PDF terrorists, arriving by two motorcycles and opened fire on her. As a result, the victim died on the spot, it is reported.
     Similarly, at 5:45 PM, a report stated that a man and a woman were shot dead, a man was injured by gunfire in Myothar (West) Village, Ngazun Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victims were U Myo Hlaing (61 years old), his son, U Kyaw Myo Tun (38 years old) and Daw Thin Thin Htay (42 years old), all residents of the village. While the victims were at their respective houses, a so-called PDF terrorist group arrived and opened fire on them accusing them of being “Decoys/ Informants”. As a result, U Kyaw Myo Tun and Daw Thin Thin Htay died on the spot, while U Myo Hlaing sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to Mandalay Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
     Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative official and innocent civilians in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
