In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 26 July, 2024 at 9:00 AM, a report stated that a man and a woman with gunshot injuries had arrived at Myeik District Public Hospital in Tanintharyi Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the Hospital for further investigation, it was discovered that the victims were U Thiha (30 years old) and his wife, Daw Pan Hmwe (26 years old) both residents of Pi Tat Village in Palaw Township. The incident occurred on 25 July at 9:00 AM, the victims left their home for Thin Gan Taw Village on a motorcycle along the Myeik-Dawei road. When they arrived near a bridge, a so-called PDF terrorist group opened fire on them, resulting in their injuries, it is reported.
Similarly, on 26 July, at 4:00 PM, a report stated that a man was injured by gunfire in No. (6) Ward, Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was U Myint Zaw (aka) Phoe Zaw (35 years old) a resident of the ward. The victim was at his home, four so-called PDF terrorists arrived by two motorcycles, opened fire on him and then fled. As a result, the victim sustained gunshot injuries. He is currently receiving medical treatment at Shwebo District Public Hospital, it is reported.
Similarly, on 26 July, at 4:50 PM, a report stated that a woman was shot dead in Taung Yoe Village, Myitthar Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was Daw Mya Shwe (57 years old) a resident of the village. The victim was beneath an acacia tree on the village roadside approximately 100 meters east of her house, two so-called PDF terrorists arrived by a motorcycle, opened fire on her and then fled. As a result, the victim died on the spot, it is reported.
Similarly, on 26 July, at 5:45 PM, a report stated that a man and a woman were shot dead in Koe Su Village, Chauk Township of Magway Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victims were U Ye Shwe (57 years old) a 100-household elder and his wife, Daw Khin Shwe (42 years old) both residents of the village. The victims were at their home when six so-called PDF terrorists arrived by three motorcycles, opened fire on them. As a result, the victims died on the spot. Additionally, the terrorists took a white light truck vehicle that was parked in the yard, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative official and innocent civilians in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
