In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views 'anyone with differing views is an enemy' are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil services, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassination after accusing them of 'spies, informants or decoys'. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 13 May, 2024 at 2:15 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in No. (6) Ward, Hlaingtharyar (Eastern) Township, Yangon Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that when Ko Aung Kyaw Htoo (aka) Ahnyar Thar (24 years old), a 10-household elder, who lived in No.(7) Ward, was near a rice shop located on the Aung Myae Thar Yar Pagoda Road in No.(6) Ward, two so-called PDF terrorists arrived, opened fire on him and fled. As a result, Ko Aung Kyaw Htoo (aka) Ahnyar Thar died on the sport with gunshot wounds, it is reported.
Similarly, at 6:10 PM on the same day, a report stated that two men and a woman were shot dead in Kwun Site Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation and it was discovered that when U Shwe Maung (60 years old), U Kyaw Myint (60 years old) and his wife, Daw San San Aye (50 years old), all residents of the village, were at their respective houses, 15 so-called PDF terrorists arrived on eight motorcycles, had them gather in front of U Kyaw Myint’s house and shot them dead. As a result, all three were killed with gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative officials and innocent civilians in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
