In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers “Anyone with differing views is an enemy” are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include civil services, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being “spies, informants or decoys” to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 14 April, 2024 at 8:10 AM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire and a knife attack in Ohnnalchaung Village, Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Toe Lwin (57 years old), who lived in the village, was in his house when six so-called PDF terrorists arrived and attacked him with gunfire and knives. As a result, U Toe Lwin died from gunshot and knife injuries, it is reported.
Similarly, at 6:30 PM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire in Phayarhtoo Village, Ngazun Township. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that a 100-household elder, U Than Win (68 years old), who lived in the village, was riding alone his motorcycle along the village road. As he approached the “Shwe Lin Pan” monastery in the village, two so-called PDF terrorists who were waiting for him, opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, U Than Win died from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Similarly, at 7:20 PM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire in Pinlalkan Village, Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Aung Khin (72 years old), who lived in the village, was in his house when six so-called PDF terrorists, arrived and opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, U Aung Khin died from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killing and assassination of an innocent civilian in the abovementioned case, it is reported.
