In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers “Anyone with differing views is an enemy” are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include civil services, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being “spies, informants, or decoys” to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 10 April, 2024 at 9:30 PM, a report stated that a man was killed in Taungpu Village, Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region. Security personnel conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Htay Zaw (43 years old) who lived in the village, was in his house when a so-called PDF terrorist group arrived and detained him. Later, on the outskirts of the village, these terrorists stabbed and slashed U Htay Zaw with knives, leading to his death from the injuries, it is reported.
Similarly, on 11 April at 6:50 PM, a report stated that a man and woman were injured by gunfire near Tamarpin Village, Myintthar Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that a 100-househole elder, U Soe Win (54 years old) and his wife, Daw Khin Htar (53 years old) who both live in Magyikan Village, were returning home on a motorcycle from Myintthar Town. As they reached the incident site, two so-called PDF terrorists, riding a motorcycle, followed them and opened fire before fleeing. As a result, U Soe Win and Daw Khin Htar sustained gunshot injuries and were transported to Myintthar Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, on 12 April at 7:30 AM, U Paw Khwe Shein Aung (40 years old) who lives in Aungthapyay Ward, Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, was inside St. Patrick Catholic Church when two male terrorists arrived and opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, U Paw Khwe Shein Aung sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to Mohnyin Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 9:00 AM, a report stated that a woman was injured by gunfire in Phayarhla Village, Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that Daw San Myint (70 years old) was in her house when six so-called PDF terrorists, arrived on three motorcycles and opened fire on her before fleeing. As a result, Daw San Myint sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to Taungtha Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killings and assassinations of administrative official and innocent civilians in the abovementioned cases, it is reported.
