In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts on 29 July, 2024 at 8:30 AM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Ka Del Village, Kyaukse Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was Village Administrator U Khin Maung Myint (65 years old), a resident of the village. The victim was returning home on his bicycle from a field north of the village. When he arrived near his village, two so-called PDF terrorists who had been following him on a motorcycle, opened fire and then fled. As a result, the victim died on the spot, it is reported.
Similarly, at 9:00 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Ah Lal Sa Khan Village, Yay Phyu Township of Tanintharyi Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was U Kyaw Kyaw (40 years old), a 100-household elder and a resident of the village. The victim was at his home, four so-called PDF terrorists arrived by two motorcycle and opened fire on him. As a result, the victim died on the spot, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative officials in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
