In some townships across States and Regions, so-called PDF terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 19 September, 2024 at 5:30 AM, a report stated that a man was shot dead near Shar Taw Village in Salin Township of Magway Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was U Pyone Cho (54 years old), a 100-household elder and a resident of the village. While the victim was at his house, approximately 20 so-called PDF terrorist arriving by motorcycles and took him. The terrorists took him to a location approximately one mile west of the village, where they opened fire on U Pyone Cho, resulting in his death on the spot, it is reported.
Similarly, on 20 September, 2024 at 9:15 AM, a report stated that two men were shot dead and another was injured in No. (107) Ward, Dagon Myothit (Southern) Township of Yangon Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that the victims were Ward Administrator U Kyi Tun (67 years old), U Swe Myint Aung (60 years old), a 100-household elder and U Myo Myint Tun (aka) Thar Gyi (46 years old), an office helper, all residents of the ward. While the victims were at the Ward Administrator’s office, three male terrorists arrived and opened fire on them. As a result, U Kyi Tun and U Swe Myint Aung died on the spot, while U Myo Myint Tun (aka) Thar Gyi sustained gunshot wounds. The injured man was transported to No. (1) Military Hospital (1000-bedded) for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative officials in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
