In some townships across the States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views 'anyone with differing views is an enemy' are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys.” This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 1 June, 2024 at 8:50 AM security personnel received a report stating that a man was shot dead near Taung Swun Village in Thaton Township of Mon State. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, they discovered that the victim was identified as U Khin Zaw Lay (52 years old), a village administrator and resident of the village. He had been walking to a farm hut located outside the village. When he arrived near the hut, a group of KNU members who support terrorism, along with so-called PDF terrorists, opened fire on him. Consequently, U Khin Zaw Lay died on the spot from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Similarly, at around 4:00 PM, security personnel received a report stating that a man was shot dead in Kyin Khaung Village in Kyaukpadaung Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that while U Tin Shwe (57 years old), a 100-household elder and a resident of the village, was at his house, four so-called PDF terrorists arrived by two motorcycles and opened fire on him. Consequently, U Tin Shwe died on the spot from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Similarly, at around 6:05 PM, security personnel received a report stating that a man was shot dead in No. (3) Ward in Hlaingtharyar (Eastern) of Yangon Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that while U Tun Tun Oo (40 years old), a 100-household elder and resident of the ward, was in front of his house, two so-called PDF terrorists arrived by a sidecar motorcycle and opened fire on him before fleeing. Consequently, U Tun Tun Oo died on the spot from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the casualties administrative officials in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
