An Innocent Civilian Killed in Heavy Weapon Attack by KIA Armed Insurgents and So-called PDF Terrorists

     In respective States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on May 24, 2024, at 1:30 PM, a group of KIA armed insurgents and the so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons at Nant Hlaing Village, Bhamo Township, Kachin State. One shell exploded within the compound of the village monastery. As a result, U Zaw Win Ko (43 years old), a resident of the village who was near the incident at the time, sustained injuries from the shrapnel. However, he died from his injuries while being transported to Bhamo Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
     Security personnel are conducting further investigations to take punitive action against the perpetrators of terrorists who conducted the heavy weapons attack that caused injuries among the innocent civilian, and also taking security measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
