In regions and states, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 25 January at 1:50 PM, a collaborative group consisting of a KIA insurgent group and so-called PDF terrorists recklessly fired heavy weapons towards Nyaunglaypin Village of Nanmar Town in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State. The shells from these weapons exploded within the Village. As a result, Daw Yi Yi Win (40 years old), who lives in this village, sustained injuries from heavy weapon shell shrapnel and was transported to Mohnyin Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting an investigation into the incidents involving attacks with heavy weapons in the Villages, which resulted in the earlier mentioned injuries. The aim of this investigation is to take punitive action against the terrorists involved. This action is in accordance with the law and is geared towards upholding stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
