In regions and states, armed insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts by detonating roads and bridges, as well as dropping bombs and firing heavy arms on the non-military targets, such as Ward and Villages where innocent civilians reside.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 19 July at 09:30 AM and 11:45 AM, armed insurgent group and a so-called PDF terrorist group recklessly opened fire with heavy weapons towards Kawkareik Town in Kayin State. A total of four projectiles landed and exploded in different locations: in front of the Kawkareik District Public Hopsital, at the No (9) Basic Education Primary School in No. (7) Ward, on Padomemar Road, and the Myo-U area of No. (2) Ward respectively. As a result of the explosions, U Yupar (53 years old), U Thein Win (40 years old), U Win Hlaing (30 years old), Daw Shwe (55 years old) and Daw Aye Thandar Hlaing (30 years old), who all live in No. (7) Ward, and Daw Than Than Aye (30 years old) and Daw Hla Myint (46 years old), who both live in No. (2) Ward, sustained injuries from bomb shrapnel. All injured individuals were transported to the Kawkareik District Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 11:30 AM, Mg Saw Nyan Lin, 15 years old (Father) U Thu Lay Soe, who lives in No (4) Ward of Kawkareik Town, was travelling on his motorcycle from Myawady Town to Taungkalay Village of Hpa-An Township. When he arrived at the Kyaikdone junction, an armed insurgent group (under scrutiny) opened fire on him. As a result, Mg Saw Nyan Lin sustained a bullet-penetrating injuries in his left leg, and was receiving medical treatment at the Kawkareik District Public Hospital, it is reported.
Security personnel are investigating the incident to take punitive action against the terrorists who recklessly attacked with heavy weapons and small arms with the intention to injure innocent civilians, as soonest in accordance with the law and to maintain stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
