In States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorists have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 23 November at 10:50 AM, a collaborative group consisting KIA armed insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists attacked with two dropped bombs using a drone on the Prison Department located Southern Ward of Katha Town, Sagaing Region. One of the dropped bombs landed within the Prison Department compound but did not exploded, prompting security personnel to defuse and clear it. The second dropped bomb landed and exploded in front of Bogyoke Park. As a result of the explosion, Daw Swe Swe Thin (36 years old), who lives in Southern Ward of Katha Town and who was passing by at that time of the incident, sustained an injury from bomb shrapnel to her back. She is currently receiving medical care at the Katha District Public Hospital, it is reported.
Security personnel are investigating the incident to take punitive action against terrorists who attacked with dropped bombs using a drone, causing innocent civilians to sustain injuries, as soonest in accordance with the law and to maintain stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
