In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being 'spies,' 'informants,' or 'decoys' to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 23 January at 6:30 AM, a report stated that three males were dead by gunfire in Matekone Villge of Mahliang Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that Village Administrator U Myint Lwin (56 years old), his son Ko Naing Tun Lwin (25 years old), and their relative U Hla Soun (64 years old), who all lived in this village, were present in U Myint Lwin’s house when six so-called PDF terrorists (under investigation), arrived on three motorcycles and opened fire on them before fleeing the scene. As a result, they were dead from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Likewise, at 8:45 AM, a report stated that a male was found dead with injuries near Gonnyinnwe Village of Salin Township, Magway Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Phoe Htoo (53 years old), who lived in this village was dead with gunshot injuries, his hands tied at the back with a rope, in a field located on the left side next to the Nwetamal-Thayettaw road, approximately two miles east of Gonnyinnwe Village. The deceased was then transported to Salin Township Public Hospital for further examination, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killings and assassinations of administrative officials and innocent civilians in the abovementioned cases. These acts stem from a radicalized ideology that deems anyone holding differing views as an enemy, it is reported.
