In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being 'spies,' 'informants,' or 'decoys' to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 24 January at 8:30 AM, Village Administrator U Kyaw Shane (65 years old), who lives in Nabalkan Village of Wundwin Township, Mandalay Region, was leaving his home alone on his motorcycle to visit the village’s monastery. As he approached the monastery on the main road of the village, two terrorists (under investigation), who were following him on another motorcycle, opened fire on him before fleeing the scene. As a result, U Kyaw Shane sustained a bullet penetrating injury to his right buttock. Currently, U Kyaw Shane is under medical care in Wundwin Township Public Hospital, it is reported.
Likewise, at 9:00 AM, a report stated that a male who had sustained gunshot injuries arrived at Sadon Circuit Hospital in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State. Security personnel promptly arrived at the hospital and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Ngwar Lay (30 years old), who lives in Lakyaung Village of Waingmaw Township, sustained a bullet penetrating through his right thigh and into his right buttock. The incident was verified that on the same day, at around 8:15 AM, U Ngwar Lay was riding his motorcycle alone to Sadon Town along the Kanpaiti-Sadon road. As he approached the entrance signboard of Sadon Town, three KIA armed insurgents waiting by the roadside opened fire on him, resulting in the aforementioned injury. He was transferred from Sadon Circuit Hospital to Myitkyina Township Public Hospital, it is reported.
Likewise, at 7:45 PM, a report stated that Village Administrator U Lwin Maung (42 years old), who lived in Thayetphyukan Village of Thayawady Township, Bago Region, was killed by gunfire from so-called PDF terrorists. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Lwin Maung had died from 11 bullet penetrating injuries to his head and chest inside his house. The incident was verified that U Lwin Maung was at home with his wife, Daw Aye Maw (51 years old), and their daughter Ma Htet Htet Win (five years old), when a group of so-called PDF terrorist (the exact number is still under investigation) arrived on three motorcycles and opened fire on them. Fortunately, Daw Aye Maw and Ma Htet Htet Win survived and managed to escape from the incident. However, U Lwin Maung was killed during the attack. Additionally, 10 shells of 5.56 caliber bullets, 12 shells of 9mm Luger bullets, and six shells of 9mm 380 bullets were seized at the incident site, it is reported.
Likewise, on 25 January at 8:00 AM, a report stated that U Than Naing (46 years old), who lived in Lathtote Village of Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, was killed by so-called PDF terrorists. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Than Naing had died from a bullet penetrating injury to his chest, as well as cut and crash injuries to his head. The incident was verified that on the same day, around 8:00 AM, U Than Naing’s wife, Daw Moe Swe, was at their house when three so-called PDF terrorists (under investigation) arrived on a motorcycle. They forcibly entered the house by kicking the door. At that moment, U Than Naing was returning home from outside. The terrorists then opened fire on him and attacked him with axe. Additionally, the terrorists robbed a mobile phone and a motorcycle belonging to U Than Naing before fleeing towards Taungtha Town. As a result, U Than Naing was dead from aforementioned injuries. His dead body was transported Nyaung-U District Public Hospital for further examination, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killings and assassinations of administrative officials and innocent civilians in the abovementioned cases. These acts stem from a radicalized ideology that deems anyone holding differing views as an enemy, it is reported.
