A terrorist died in an explosion while attempting to plant an explosive device, aiming to carry out an act of terrorism in Magway Township, Magway Region.
The incident occurred on 6 March at 2:40 PM, a report stated that a man died from an explosion while installing an explosive device on a bench located on the east side of Kanthar Lake in Kanthar Ward, Magway Township. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that two so-called PDF terrorists had arrived at the site on a motorcycle. They attempted to plant an explosive device on a bench along the lake’s boundary. The device exploded during the installation, resulting in shrapnel injuries that led to the death of one terrorist, while the other managed to escape from the site on the motorcycle. Additionally, two motorcycle helmets, another explosive device fashioned from a “Fuji” soap can, and two national identification cards were found near the deceased, it is reported.
Security personnel transported the deceased, who was involved in planting an explosive device that could have caused injuries or death to innocent civilians in the incident described above, to Magway Township Public Hospital. This was done for further examination and to facilitate legal action. The security forces are currently investigating those involved in, and responsible for, the acts of terrorism to ensure that effective legal action can be taken against them, it is reported.
