In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being 'spies,' 'informants,' or 'decoys' to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 30 December at 08:50 AM, a report stated that a male was dead by gunfire in Phalankone Village of Natogyi Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Maung Hmon(55 years old), who lived in this village, was at home with his family when a group of five terrorists (under investigation), arrived on three motorcycles and opened fire on him. As a result, U Maung Hmon was dead from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Likewise, at 02:00 PM, Daw Myint Myint Khine (aka) Ma Khine(40 years old), her husband U Than Lwin(58 years old), and their niece Ma Shwe Thiri Khin(19 years old), who all live in Mayanchaung Village of Kyaikto Township, Mon State, were inside their home when a male terrorist (under investigation), arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire on them before fleeing. As a result, U Than Lwin and Daw Myint Myint Khine (aka) Ma Khine, sustained gunshot injuries and were transported to Kyaikto Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
