Some of the state-owned and private communication towers were built and installed to facilitate telecommunication and information flow among people were set fire and destroyed by political extremists who oppose social development and stability of the people in the country. It has been found that acts of terrorism include arson and explosive attacks are carried out on communication towers.
Since they are conducting such destructive acts, on 21 July at 08:00 PM, according to the information indicated that an explosion occurred at a Mytel telecommunication tower besides the Myingyan-Yaywon Road located east of Shawphyutaung Village in Natogyi Township of Mandalay Region, security personnel went to the scene and inspected four individuals, including an engineer U Ngwe Lin from the Mytel Mandalay branch, who were found at the tower. Upon inspection, it is found that four of them were arrived in a 3A/XXXX Canda vehicle carrying Premium Diesel to fill fuel the generator of the tower at 05:30 PM. They were preparing to fill the fuel, when 15 so-called PDF terrorists arrived in a Light Truck vehicle and six motorcycles, and apprehended four of them to a location approximately 100 yards away from the tower. Subsequently, the terrorists proceeded to detonate the tower, and then transferred 8 barrels of Premium Diesel, two empty barrels and a hand fuel transfer pump, all of which were loaded in the Canda vehicle, into their light truck vehicle. As a result of the explosion, the generator and related items installed at the tower (approximately 40 lakhs worth) were damaged and the communication services were also interrupted, it is reported.
Security force members are continue taking necessary measures to take punitive legal actions against the terrorists who blew up a Mytel telecommunication tower as soonest in accordance with the law.
