In respective States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 19 June, 2024 at 4:00 PM, security personnel received a report of two children with shrapnel injuries had arrived at the Township Public Hospital in Pinlaung Township, Southern Shan State. When security personnel promptly arrived at the hospital for further investigation, it was discovered that the victims were Mg Phoe Thauk Kyar (12 years old) and Ma Nan Aye (11 years old), both of whom live in the village. While they were in their respective houses, a heavy weapon shell fired by a terrorist group exploded between their homes, causing them to sustaine shrapnel injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting further investigations to take punitive action against the perpetrators of terrorists who conducted the heavy weapon attack into the village, and also taking security measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
