In respective States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 10 June, 2024 at 7:30 PM, a group of KIA armed insurgents, along with so-called PDF terrorists, fired heavy weapons into Khat Cho Village, Waingmaw Township, Kachin State. A heavy weapon shell exploded within the village. As a result, U Ni Sone Saing (53 years old), Daw Hon Yin (53 years old), Daw Poe Yi Mon (33 years old), U Soe Lin Phyo (28 years old) and Daw Ma Yin (31 years old), who all live in the village, sustained injuries from shrapnel and were transported to Myintkyinar Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting further investigations to take punitive action against the perpetrators of terrorists who conducted the heavy weapon attack into the village, and also taking security measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
