In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being 'spies,' 'informants,' or 'decoys' to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 4 January at 07:30 AM, a report stated that the death of U Maung Maung Lwin (45 years old), who lived in Setpyartelteik (local name) located west of Darthawykyauk Village of Thegon Township, Bago Region. He was shot and killed by gunfire from so-called PDF terrorists. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Maung Maung Lwin was dead from two bullet penetrating injuries to his left temple. The incident was verified to have occurred on 3 January around 10:00 PM when three so-called PDF terrorists (under investigation), arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire while U Maung Maung Lwin was inside his house with his wife, Daw Khin Aye Myint. As a result of the gunfire, U Maung Maung Lwin was dead from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Likewise, on 4 January at 12:40 PM, a report stated that U Nyi Nyi Lwin (52 years old), who lived in Balisu Ward of Motpalin Village of Kyaikto Township, Mon State. He was returning home after purchasing of betel from Motpalin market when, on the market road, two so-called PDF terrorists (under investigation) arrived by a motorcycle and opened fire on him accusing of being “a Decoy/ Dalan” before fleeing. As a result, U Nyi Nyi Lwin sustained three bullet penetrating injuries to his chest and abdomen. Additionally, Daw Hnin Yi Htway (34 years old), who was inside her house nearby, sustained a gunshot injury to her left temple. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. Security personnel transported Daw Hnin Yi Htway to Kyaikto District Public Hospital and U Nyi Nyi Lwin to Theinzayet Circuit Hospital for medical treatment. Sadly, they succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospitals, it is reported.
Likewise, on 4 January at 02:35 PM, a report stated that a 100-household elder U San Lwin (64 years old) and his wife Daw Mar Mar Aye (48 years old), who both live in Chaungnar Village of Taungtha Township, Mandalay Region, were returning home on a motorcycle from their onion field, located approximately two furlongs west of the village. As they reached the entrance of Chaungnar Village, two so-called PDF terrorists (under investigation), riding a motorcycle from opposite direction, forced them to stop their motorcycle. While they were halted, the terrorists opened fire on U San Lwin before fleeing. As a result, U San Lwin was dead from two bullet penetrating injuries, one to his head and another in chest, during the incident, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killings and assassinations of administrative officials and innocent civilians in the abovementioned cases. These acts stem from a radicalized ideology that deems anyone holding differing views as an enemy, it is reported.
