In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys.” This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 19 June, 2024 at 2:15 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead and another was injured in Ywar Thar Yar Village, Taikkyi Township, Yangon Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that while U Win Maung (56 years old), a 100-household elder and a resident of Pane Sho Village in Taikkyi Township, was at the home-shop of U Aye Ko (30 years old) in Ywar Thar Yar Village, along with U Aung Paing Soe (aka) Aung Chan (38 years old), a resident of Ah-shae Tha Pyay Kone Ward in Thone Sel Town, Tharyarwaddy Township, Bago Region, U Aung Zaw Tun (46 years old), a resident of Ywar Thar Yar Village in Taikkyi Township, and U Chit Aye (43 years old), a resident of Pane Sho Village, five male terrorists arrived by three motorcycles and opened fire on them, before fleeing. Consequently, U Win Maung died on the spot from gunshot injuries, while U Aung Paing Soe (aka) Aung Chan sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to Taikkyi Township Public Hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, U Aung Zaw Tun and U Chit Aye were not injured, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the killings and assassinations of administrative official and innocent civilians in the aforementioned case, it is reported.
