In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being 'spies,' 'informants,' or 'decoys' to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 24 February at 9:00 AM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire near Kawthlaing Village of Thaton Township, Mon State. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that Ko Soe Tun Naung (32 years old) who lived in Lateinn Ward of Thaton Township, was travelling alone on his motorcycle from Thaton Town to Paung Town. As he arrived at milepost 152/5 on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Road near Kawthlaing Village, two male terrorists, who were riding a motorcycle behind him, opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, Ko Soe Tun Naung died from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killing and assassination of an innocent civilian in the abovementioned case. These acts stem from a radicalized ideology that deems anyone holding differing views as an enemy, it is reported.
