Innocent Civilian Killed and Injured in Improvised Mortar Attack on Ward by Insurgents Committing Terrorists Activities

    Insurgents committing terrorist activities have been engaging in battles, firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets and dropping bombs using drones into the public towns, wards and villages.
    Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 29 August, 2024 at 2:20 PM, a so-called PDF terrorist group fired improvised mortars into No. (2) Ward, Kyauk Myaung Town, Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region. One of the improvised mortar shells exploded near the “Myat Shwe Zin” tea shop in the ward. As a result, U Myint Soe (aka) Phat Thee (43 years old), U Bo Oo (45 years old), U Kyaw Kyaw (65 years old), U Nyi Nyi Tun (59 years old), U Soe Lwin (59 years old), Daw Maw (45 years old), Daw Win Mar (43 years old), Ma Toe Toe Lwin (16 years old), Daw Khin Mar Win (40 years old) and Daw Nan Nyunt Nyunt Win (46 years old), who were all near the incident at the time, sustained shrapnel injuries. All injured individuals are receiving medical treatment at a Local Military Hospital. Unfortunately, Daw Maw succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical treatment, it is reported. 
    Due to the heinous acts of armed insurgents and terrorists such as engaging in battles and firing of heavy weapons and improvised rockets within towns, wards and villages where innocent civilians peacefully reside, innocent civilians are injured. Consequently, Local residents are protesting vehemently against these acts of terrorism, completely refusing to accept them. Security personnel are intensifying necessary security measures in collaboration with the Local residents, it is reported.
