In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 26 May 2025 at 9:30 AM, a report stated that a man was injured by gunfire No.6, Ward in Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region. When security personnel arrived at the scene for further investigation, they discovered that the victim was identified as U Than Tun (51 years old), a resident of No.7, Ward in Shwebo Town. The incident occurred while he was returning home by bicycle from the area east of "Shwe Pa Laung" Private Hospital in No.6, Ward. Upon reaching No.6 Ward, a so-called PDF terrorist group opened fire on him. As a result, he sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to Shwebo District Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
