In respective States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 28 May, 2024 at 7:35 PM, a group of KIA armed insurgents and the so-called KPDF terrorists fired heavy weapons at Kone Ma Hat Village in Bhamo Township, Kachin State. A heavy weapon shell exploded within the village. As a result, U Ba Tun (78 years old), Ko Min Htut (22 years old) and Daw Tin Shi (47 years old), who all live in the Village, sustained injuries from the shrapnel and were transported to Bhamo Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 8:45 PM, a group of KNU members who support terrorism and the so-called PDF terrorists used a drone to drop bombs on Oak Shik Khin (West) Village in Phyu Township, Bago Region. The bombs exploded within the village. As a result, Ma Ei Ei Soe (18 years old) who lived in the village, died from the shrapnel. Mg Kaung Pyae Hlan (four years old), Ma Thandar (45 years old), Ma Ei Htet Sandi Kyaw (25 years old), U Zaw Min (39 years old) and Daw Mar Mar Lwin (30 years old), all residents of the Village, sustained injuries from the shrapnel. The deceased and injured were transported to Phyu Township Public Hospital for examination and medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting further investigations to take punitive action against the perpetrators of terrorists who conducted the heavy weapons and drone-dropped bombs attacks that caused death and injuries among the innocent civilians. They are also taking security measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
