Innocent Civilians, Including Monk, Injured in Heavy and Small Arms Attack by KIA Insurgents and So-Called PDF Terrorists in Bhamo Township of Kachin State 

     Insurgent groups and so-called PDF terrorists committing inhumane acts have been engaging in battles, firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets and dropping bombs using drones into the residential areas, including towns, wards and villages.
     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 9 May 2025 at 9:25 PM, a report stated that 14 innocent civilians, including a monk with shrapnel injuries were admitted to the Township Public Hospital in Shweku Township of Kachin. When security personnel promptly arrived at the hospital to conduct further investigation, they found that the victims included a monk named Agga Wun Tha (48 years with 27 years of monkhood), from Kan Nar Yeik Thar Monastery in Nyaung Pin Ward, Bhamo Township and Mg Myo Min Kyaw (29 years old), Ko Thar Hein (25 years old), Ko Aung Lay (33 years old), U Shauk Tee (32 years old), U Maung Oo (45 years old), Mg Myo Khant Paing (11 years old) Daw Htay (43 years old), Ma Tha Pyay Hnin Thway (19 years old), Ma Nway Hnin (25 years old), U Kyaw Swar Myint (56 years old), Ma Nan Kay Zin Lin (15 years old), Daw May Thu Kwyal (56 years old) and Ma May Thet Hmu Khin (16 years old). All the victims were at the monastery at the time of the incident. The incident occurred when KIA insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy and small weapons into residential wards in Bhamo Town. The shells exploded within the wards, causing the injuries, it is reported.
     Due to the heinous acts of armed terrorists such as engaging in battles and firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets into towns, wards and villages where innocent civilians peacefully reside, civilian casualties have been reported. Consequently, local residents are protesting vehemently against these acts of terrorism, completely refusing to accept them. Security personnel are intensifying necessary security measures in collaboration with the local residents, it is reported.
