In respective States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civillians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 20 May, 2024 at 12:55 PM, a group of KIA armed insurgents and the so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons at Khat Cho Village, Waingmaw Township, Kachin State. The heavy weapon shells exploded within the village. Consequently, Ma Kay Thwal (18 years old), U Kyaw Oo (56 years old), Daw Pu Lay (45 years old), Ma Thazin Lin (22 years old), Mg Soe Lin Khant (five years old) and Mg Zwal Mhan Aung (nine years old), all residents of the village, died from shrapnel. Additionally, Ko Zaw Myo Win (28 years old), Daw Tin Mar (55 years old), Ko Aung Min Tun (25 years old), Ma Mi Eal (25 years old), U Maung Sint (52 years old), Daw Myint Htay (52 years old), Ma Thazin Win (25 years old), Ma Kyawt Kay Khine (19 years old), U Pike (72 years old), Ma Yamin Shwe Sin (eight years old) and Daw Kay Thi Theint (23 years old), all from the village, sustained injuries from the shrapnel and were transported to Waingmaw Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 9:30 PM, a group of KNU members who support terrorism and the so-called PDF terrorists fired improvised rockets at Aye Thar Yar Village, Nyaunglebin Township, Bago Region. An improvised rocket shell exploded within the village. Consequently, Daw San Yu (51 years old), Ma Naw El Li Sabat (14 years old), Ma Naw Wah Set Phaw (15 years old) and Mg Saw Taw Ni Lin (four years old), all from the village, sustained injuries from the shrapnel and were transported to Painzalote Circuit Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Likewise, at 9:45 PM, a group of KNU members who support terrorism and the so-called PDF terrorists fired improvised rockets at Htaw Nuot Village, Nyaunglebin Township. An improvised rocket shell exploded within the village. Consequently, Daw Aye Aye (63 years old), a resident of the village, sustained injuries from the shrapnel and were transported to Nyaunglebin Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting further investigations to take punitive action against the perpetrators of terrorists who conducted the heavy weapons and improvised rockets attacks that caused injuries and deaths among innocent civillians and also taking security measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
