Innocent Civilians Injured and Killed in Improvised Mortar Attacks on Villages by Insurgents Commiting Terrorist Activities

    Insurgents conducting terrorist activities have been engaging in battles, firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets and dropping bombs using drones into the public towns, wards and villages. 
    Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 5 August, 2024 at 3:40 PM, a so-called PDF terrorist group fired improvised mortars into Kin Mon Taw Village in Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region. Around 24 improvised mortar shells exploded within the village. As a result of these explosions, Daw Khin Mar Htay (51 years old) a resident of the village, died on the spot. Additionally, U Mya Maung (71 years old), U Hlaing (65 years old), U Nan Win (40 years old), Mg Oakkar Phyo (13 years old) and Ma Wai Wai Phyo (25 years old) all residents of the village, sustained shrapnel injuries. They are currently receiving first aid treatment in the village, it is reported. 
    Due to the heinous acts of armed insurgents and terrorists such as engaging in battles and firing of heavy weapons and improvised rockets within towns, wards and villages where innocent civilians peacefully reside, innocent civilians are injured. Consequently, local residents are protesting vehemently against these acts of terrorism, completely refusing to accept them. Security personnel are intensifying necessary security measures in collaboration with the local residents, it is reported.
