Insurgents committing terrorist activities have been engaging in battles, firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets and dropping bombs using drones into the public towns, wards and villages.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 12 September, 2024 at 4:30 PM, a group of KNU members who support terrorism, along with so-called PDF terrorists conducted a drone attack, dropping bombs on Apyin Sakhan Gyi Village in Thanphyuzayat Township of Mon State. One of the bombs exploded within a rubber plantation approximately 500 meters west of the village. As a result, U Nyan Tun (37 years old), a resident of the village who was working in the plantation, sustained shrapnel injuries and was transported to Thanphyuzayat Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 8:00 PM, a report stated that a man with shrapnel injuries had arrived at Nyaung-U Township Public Hospital in Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the hospital for further investigation, it was discovered that the victim was U Myint Thaung (72 years old), a resident of No. (1) Ward in Myitchay Town, Pakokku Township. The incident occurred when a so-called PDF terrorist group fired heavy weapons into the victim’s ward. The heavy weapon shells exploded within the ward, resulting in his injuries, it is reported.
Due to the heinous acts of armed insurgents and terrorists such as engaging in battles and firing of heavy weapons and improvised rockets within towns, wards and villages where innocent civilians peacefully reside, innocent civilians are injured. Consequently, local residents are protesting vehemently against these acts of terrorism, completely refusing to accept them. Security personnel are intensifying necessary security measures in collaboration with the local residents, it is reported.
