In respective States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in the community areas of wards and village where innocent civilians reside.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 2 July, 2024 at 2:00 PM, the AA armed insurgent group fired heavy weapons into Myoma (East) Ward, Maungtaw Town, Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State. The heavy weapon shells exploded within the ward. As a result, Ma Naw Mi Mar (seven years old) and a resident of the ward, died on the spot. Additionally, Ma Naw Sha Mi (seven years old), Daw Jan Kar Ar Yar (20 years old), Mg Arr Sat (four months old) and Daw De Tu (35 years old), all residents of the ward, sustained injuries from shrapnel, it is reported.
Similarly, on 3 July at 7:00 AM, armed insurgent groups supporting terrorism fired improvised rockets into No. (1) Ward, Lashio Township, Northern Shan State. The improvised rocket shells exploded within the ward resulting in the deaths of Daw Mar Ji (49 years old), U Sai Khun (35 years old), Daw Mary (33 years old), Mg Zay Zaung (12 years old), Mg Doi Aung (14 years old) and Ma Zay Nyawl (12 years old), all residents of the ward, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting further investigations to take punitive action against the perpetrators of terrorists who conducted heavy weapon and improvised rocket attacks on the wards and also taking security measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
