In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants, or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 25 June 2024 Daw Myat Myat Cho (48 years old) and Daw Naing Naing Maw (31 years old) residents of Pan Tin Village, Sinku Township, Mandalay Region, were travelling in a Hijet vehicle from Sinku Town to Mandalay City along the Mandalay-Mogok Road. At 9:30 AM, when they arrived near Sike Kwin Village (locally know as such) at mileposts 28/1, a so-called PDF terrorist group opened fire on them. As a result, Daw Myat Myat Cho died on the spot, while Daw Naing Naing Maw sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to Madaya Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 8:55 PM, security personnel received a report of a man was injured by gunfire in Totet Kone Village, Patheingyi Township. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that while Ko Nyein Aye (aka) Pauk Sa, (37 years old) and a resident of the village, had been walking along the village road, two terrorists on a motorcycle opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, Ko Nyein Aye (aka) Pauk Sa sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to Mandalay Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 9:10 PM, security personnel received a report of a man and a woman injured by gunfire and stabbing in Sa Kyin Village, Madaya Township. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, it was discovered that while U Htay Thu (63 years old) and his wife Daw Zin Wai Thwal (56 years old) residents of the village, was at their house, seven so-called PDF terrorists arrived, opened fire and stabbed them before fleeing. Consequently, both sustained gunshot and knife injuries and were transported to Mandalay Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the deaths and the injured of the innocent civilians in the aforementioned cases, it is reported.
