In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views 'anyone with differing views is an enemy' are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are civil servants, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys.” This strategy is intended to instil fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 12 June 2024 at 9:30 AM. Security personnel received a report that a male was shot dead and the other two were injured near Latpat village, Kyaukkyi township of Bago Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the scene for further investigation, they discovered that around three (under scrutiny) KNU members who support terrorism and so-called PDF terrorists opened fire at the U Kalar (37 years old), Mg Myint Myat Aung (17 years old) and Mg Wai Lin Phyo (11 years old), residents of the village while the victims were leaving their village for Kyaukkyi township on a motorcycle. The shooting killed U Kalar with gunshot wounds and injured two underage boys, Mg Myint Myant Aung and Mg Wai Lin Phyo. The injured victims were sent to the battlefield medical unit at No. (60) Infantry Battalion in Thanbo village.
Similarly, at 9:30 AM, security personnel received a report stating that a male with severe injuries was found dead in the farm gutter near Watkhae village, Madaya township of Mandalay region. When security personnel arrived there for further investigation, they discovered that a man (around 45 years old) shot dead by a terrorist group (under scrutiny) was found rotten and tied to his feet and hands in the farm gutter. The dead body was sent to Madaya Public Hospital for further investigation.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians in the cases mentioned above, it is reported.
