Innocent civilians were injured in an attack involving heavy weapons within the village, carried out by a group of KNU members who support terrorism and so-called PDF terrorists

     In States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 15 April, 2024 at 10:40 AM, a group of KNU members who support terrorism, along with so-called PDF terrorists, fired heavy weapons in Khintangyi Village, Yaedashe Township, Bago Region. The shells from heavy weapons exploded within the village. As a result, U Zaw Min Soe (24 years old) sustained injuries from the shrapnel of the heavy weapon shells. He was transported to the Swar Circuit Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
     Similarly, at 1:15 PM, a terrorist group fired heavy weapons in Zarle Village, Naungkhio Township, Northern Shan State. The shells from heavy weapons exploded within the village. As a result, Ko Aung Min Han (24 years old) who lived in the village, was dead from the shrapnel of the heavy weapon shells. Additionally, U Ba Nyein (68 years old) Daw Than Hlaing (63 years old) and Daw Ngwe Aein (61 years old) who also live in the village, sustained injuries from the shrapnel of the heavy weapon shells. They were transported to the Pyinoolwin Township Public Hospital in Mandalay Region for medical treatment, it is reported.
     Security personnel are conducting an investigation into the incident involving the heavy weapons attack and resulted in the injurie and damages described previously. The aim of this investigation is to take punitive action against the terrorists involved. This action is in accordance with the law and is geared towards upholding stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
