In States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on April 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM, KIA armed insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapon at wards and villages in Momauk Township, Kachin State. The heavy weapon shells exploded within wards and villages. As a result, Ko Kyaw Zin Lat (22 years old) and U Sam Wah (38 years old), who both lived in Kyauksakhan Village in Momauk Township, along with Ma Kyi Kyi Win (13 years old), who lived in Ahlinkaung Ward in Momauk Township, died from heavy weapon shell shrapnel. Additionally, U Thet Lwin (55 years old), who lives in Tainphayar Village, U Aung Kyaw Lwin (40 years old), who lives in Khaynan Ward, and Ko Pan Aung (39 years old), who lives in Ahlinkaung Ward, sustained injuries from heavy weapon shell shrapnel. The deceased and injured were transported to Bhamo Township Public Hospital for examination and medical treatment, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting an investigation into the incident involving attacks with heavy weapons, which resulted in the injuries and the deaths described previously. The aim of this investigation is to take punitive action against the terrorists involved. This action is in accordance with the law and is geared towards upholding stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
