In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include civil services, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being 'spies', 'informants' or 'decoys' to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 28 April, 2024 at 6:30 AM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire in Ohntaw Village, Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Kyi Hlaing (63 years old), who lived in the village, was in the “Aungmahar” tea shop in the village, two so-called PDF terrorists arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, U Kyi Hlaing died from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Similarly, at 3:00 PM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire in King Village, Sagaing Township. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Kyaw Swe (65 years old), who lived in the village, was in his house when two so-called PDF terrorists arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, U Kyaw Swe died from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killings and assassinations of innocent civilians in the abovementioned cases, it is reported.
