In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include civil services, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being 'spies,' 'informants,' or 'decoys' to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 16 April, 2024 at 1:15 PM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire in Talotepin Village, Myothit Township, Magway Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Aung Myint Kyi (58 years old), who lived in the village, was near his house yard when four so-called PDF terrorists arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, U Aung Myint Kyi sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to Myothit Township Public Hospital for medical treatment. However, U Aung Myint Kyi died from his injuries while receiving medical treatment, it is reported.
Similarly, at 6:00 PM, a report stated that a man was killed by gunfire near the entrance signboard of Shwebonthar Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that Ko Thet Tun Aung (30 years old), who lived in Minnaykone Village in Ngazun Township, was travelling on his motorcycle from Nwarkuaei Village in Myingyan Township to Minnaykone Village along the Myingyan-Myothar Road. As he approached Shwebonthar Village, six so-called PDF terrorists who had been waiting for him opened fire before fleeing. As a result, Ko Thet Tun Aung died from gunshot injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killings and assassinations of innocent civilians in the abovementioned cases, it is reported.
