In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include civil services, administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, the terrorists are committing brutal assassination after accusing these individuals of being 'spies, informants, or decoys' to instill fear among peaceable civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 8 May, 2024 at 10:45 AM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Myothit Ward, Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Bo Win (50 years old), who lived in the ward, was in his house when two so-called PDF terrorists arrived on a motorcycles and opened fire on him. As a result, he was shot dead, it is reported.
Similarly, at 5:15 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead in Oak Pho Village, Natmauk Township, Magway Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that U Paw Oo (50 years old), who lived in the village, was in his house when four so-called PDF terrorists arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire on him. Additionally, the terrorists robbed the house of golden items and MMK 10 lakhs, and also stole a motorcycle that was parked in front of the house, before fleeing. As a result, U Paw Oo was fatally shot, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killings and assassinations of innocent civilians in the abovementioned cases, it is reported.
