Extremist terrorist groups are engaging in subversive activities, including setting fires and detonating explosives on public roads and bridges, with the aim of disrupting regional road connections.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 24 December at 02:00 AM, KNU members who support terrorism and so-called PDF terrorists detonated the No. (1/9) Pathi Creek Bridge along the Latetho-Yardo road, between mile posts 8/5 and 8/6, near Kyauktai Village of Taungoo Township, Bago Region. As a result, approximately 50 feet in length and 18 feet in width the right side of the reinforced concrete bridge (measuring approximately 50 feet in length and 30 feet in width) collapsed and were destroyed, along with the bridge rails. Consequently, vehicles are unable to pass through the bridge, it is reported.
Likewise, at 08:00 AM, a terrorist group (under investigation) detonated a bridge along the Latetho-Taungoo road, situated between mile posts 20/6 and 20/7 in Thandaunggyi Township, Kayin State. Consequently, approximately 15 feet of the concrete bridge approach (which measures approximately 20 feet in length and 24 feet in width) sustained damage, it is reported.
Responsible officials are currently engaged in repairing the damaged bridges while security personnel continue to take necessary measures to pursue legal actions against the terrorists responsible for the bridge detonations. These actions are being carried out in accordance with the law to uphold stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
