Roads/bridges are being constructed as basic infrastructure for the development of socio-economic life in the region and to facilitate convenient and swift transportation for the people. Armed insurgents who support terrorism and the so-called PDF terrorists, who oppose peace and development in the country, have been carrying out reckless acts by blowing up and destroying roads/ bridges with homemade mines and homemade bombs.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 24 June at 11:30 PM, member of KNU group supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorists detonated No. (2/11) Bontayaw Bridge measuring 20 feet in length and 30 feet in width located near milepost 10/5 miles on the Kyaukgyi-Natthankwin Road in Taguntie Village of Kyaukgyi Township, Bago Region. Furthermore, during the same incident, they also detonated No. (2/21) Paukmyaung Bridge measuring 80 feet in length and 18 feet in width located near milepost 11/4 miles on the road in Nyaungkone Village. As a result, the central section of the Bontayaw Bridge has been completely destroyed, while the Paukmyaung Bridge has suffered severe damage due to mine shrapnel, it is reported.
Responsible officials are now repairing the damaged bridge so that it can be used by the public soon, and security force members are continue taking necessary measures to take punitive legal actions against the terrorists who blew up the public bridge as soonest in accordance with the law, it is reported.
