It has been heartbreakingly found that extremists engaging in political terrorism are committing acts of sabotage within the country. These acts include firing upon and detonating explosives, specifically targeting and destroying religious buildings and monasteries sacred to the Buddhist people of Myanmar. Additionally, they are abducting and brutally killing Buddhist monks.
Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 28 March at 8:00 AM, approximately 10 so-called PDF terrorists arrived at the “Taung Kyaung Tawya” monastery in Myaik Village, Shwebo Township, Sagaing Region. They brutally killed Abbot U Oakkahta (47 years old and had spent 25 years in monkhood), using knives. As a result, the abbot passed away from knife injuries, it is reported.
Security personnel are investigating the aforementioned incident to ensure that punitive action is taken against the terrorists who brutally killed the abbot, in accordance with the law. This is part of broader efforts to maintain stability and peace in the region, it is reported.
