In respective States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in the community areas of wards and village where innocent civilians reside.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on June 29, 2024 at 4:05 PM armed insurgents who support terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist group fired improvised mortars into Yae Kyaw Village, Kyaikto Township, Mon State. One of the improvised mortar shells exploded on the Dhamma Du Tha monastery in the village, injuring junior novice Shin Thu Seit Tha (aka) Ye Win Maung (10 years old) with three years in monkhood and Daw Thida Cho (49 years old) who were inside the monastery at the time. Targically, junior novice Shin Thu Seit Tha (aka) Ye Win Maung passed away to his injuries at 6:00 PM, it is reported.
Security personnel are conducting further investigations to take punitive action against the perpetrators of terrorists who conducted improvised mortar attack on the village and also taking security measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
