Around 10:30 AM on 13 May 2023, there occurred a robbery case in ‘Kyalzinlin’ jewellery shop located on Ayarwun street, No. (9) ward of Tharkayta township of Yangon region. Four suspects, carrying a short gun, arriving with a white-coloured Toyota Probox car robbed the shop by holding three staff at gun point and took 30 lots of goldwares worth MMK 400 million and CCTV control box as well.
According to the information tip-offed by local residents who are against robbery, a crime of violence which can disrupt State’s peace, it was found out that the suspects of the robbery case were hiding in Painnaegon ward of Insein Township. When security personnel searched the said area on 0200 PM on the same day, perpetrators Soe Than Naing Oo (aka) Zaw Gyi and Ye Yint Khine Soe (aka) Khine Soe along with 58 rounds of .380 bullet, 43 rounds of 9mm bullets, a .380 magazine, two grenades with detonation cords, 256 gold chains, 153 sets of gold earring, 54 gold pendants, 15 gold hair clips, 363 gold bracelets, 631 gold rings, 91 gold hand chains and MMK 3 million in cash were seized within four hours after the robbery in house No.559, Thayetchan 4th Street, Painnaegon Ward of Insein Township.
According to the confession of the arrested perpetrator Soe Than Naing Oo (aka) Zaw Gyi, perpetrator Sa Kin Marum Zin was arrested in Insein Park and perpetrator Min Khant Maung was arrested in the “Shwekaungkywal” Teashop in Aungsan Ward of Insein Township on the same day’s evening.
According to the testimony of the arrested perpetrator Min Khant Maung, on the morning of May 14, perpetrator Kyaw Min Wai (aka) Wai Gyi and Zayar Aye (aka) Zayar were arrested along with robbed items, a gold chain, a pair of gold earring, four gold rings in Maygawadi Ward of Hlegu Township. Additionally, perpetrator Naing Oo (aka) Sune Ye was arrested with a Glock pistol, a Sig Sauer pistol, two magazines, 20 rounds of .380 bullet, a gold chain, a gold locket pendant and two gold coin pendant in building No. 105, Sanpya 5th Street, Sanpya Ward, Thingangyun Township.
According to the confession of the perpetrator Naing Oo (aka) Sune Ye, on the morning of 14 May, Lin Oo, who was involved in storing arms and ammunitions used in committing robbery, was arrested along with three grenades in house No. 5/768, Padamyar 3rd Street, No. 5 Ward, Dagon Myothit (Northern) Township.
In the incident, eight perpetrators of the robbery case were arrested together with one Glock pistol, one Sig Sauer pistol, 121 rounds of assorted bullets, three grenades, two grenades with detonation cords. Moreover, 30 sets of goldwares worth MMK 400 million and MMK 3 million in cash were seized within 24 hours after the robbery by the cooperation of conscientious individuals who secretly provided information, and the timely and persistent efforts of security personnel.
According to the confessions of the arrested perpetrators, it is identified that perpetrator Sa Kin Marum Zin had attended the explosive device detonating training at the KIA camp near Laizar Town in March 2021, as he has been connected by Kyaw Lin Nyo (still at large). Offender Hein Min Htet (aka) Lin Nwe (still at large) organized a terrorist group so-called Anti-Dictatorship Revolution People’s Army – DRPA comprising 14 members, led by Hein Min Htet (aka) Lin New (still at lager), including Soe Than Naing Oo (aka) Zaw Gyi, Min Khant Maung, Naing Oo (aka) Sune Ye, Sa Kin Marum Zin and remaining offenders to be arrested – Ko Tun, Zin Lin Tun (aka) Zin Gyi, Jet Palat, Arkar, Pinlae, Layaung, Kyaw Gyi, Thar Gyi and Thurain, in first week of October 2021 as per the instruction of absconder Yi Mon, a member of NUG with the ill intentions of killing innocent civilians after accusing them of ‘decoy/ dalan’; forcibly taking money from rich people by using the threat of weapon; and committing robberies.
As per testimonies of the perpetrators, in the second week of December 2021, absconder Yi Mon (NUG) sent one Glock pistol, one Sig Sauer pistol, 100 rounds of bullets and four grenades to offender Hein Min Htet (aka) Lin Nwe (still at large) to carry out acts of terrorism in Yangon city.
According to the confessions of the arrested perpetrators, the so-called DRPA terrorist group had committed murder case and terrorist bombing case as follows –
- Soe Than Naing Oo (aka) Zaw Gyi and Thurain (still at large) killed an innocent civilian called ‘Pho Khwar’ who lived in Shwetharaphi Street of Myogyikon Ward in Hlegu Township by accusing him of being decoy/dalan in the fourth week of January 2022.
- Soe Than Naing Oo (aka) Zaw Gyi and Thurain (still at large) exploded IED at the ward administer office in Aungmingalar ward of Hlegu township in the second week of January 2022.
According to the confessions of the arrested perpetrators, the so-called DRPA terrorist group had committed robbery cases as follows-
- The leader Soe Than Naing Oo (aka) Zaw Gyi, Min Khant Maung, Kyaw Min Wai (aka) Wai Gyi, Naing Oo (aka) Sune Ye, Sa Kin Marum Zin, Zayar Aye (aka) Zayar and Ye Yint Khine Soe (aka) Khine Soe robbed of MMK 10 million from a businessman running “La Thar Thar” real estate in Kyaukkadin village, Hlegu township on 10 March 2023.
- On 3 April 2023, the leader Soe Than Naing Oo (aka) Zaw Gyi, Min Khant Maung, Kyaw Min Wai (aka) Wai Gyi, Naing Oo (aka) Sune Ye, Sa Kin Marum Zin, Zayar Aye (aka) Zayar and Ye Yint Khine Soe (aka) Khine Soe robbed ‘Kaung Lay’ mobile phone shop in middle block of 40th Street, No. 9 Ward, Kyauktada township at gun point and forcibly took K5 million and 10 phone handsets.
- On the first week of May, they planned to rob jewellery shops that exclusively employed female staff. They discovered that Kyalzinlin Jewellery Shop had only three female employees, so they targeted it for robbery. They monitored the entrances and exits of the shop in preparation. On 13 May, the leader Soe Than Naing Oo (aka) Zaw Gyi, Min Khant Maung, Kyaw Min Wai (aka) Wai Gyi, Naing Oo (aka) Sune Ye, Sa Kin Marum Zin, Zayar Aye (aka) Zayar and Ye Yint Khine Soe (aka) Khine Soe went to Kyal Zin Lin jewellery shop and robbed the shop by holding three sale girls at gun point and took 30 lots of goldwares worth K 400 million and CCTV control box as well.
In the robbery incident of the so-called DRPA terrorist group to Kyalzinlin jewellery shop, the leader of the robbery case can be arrested together with goldwares within four hours, and the remaining perpetrators, arms and ammunitions can be arrested and seized within 24 hours after the robbery by the cooperation of conscientious individuals who secretly provided information, and the timely and persistent efforts of security personnel.
It is reported that measures will be taken to take harsh legal actions against the arrested offenders. The entire public is encouraged to report any information about fugitives to relevant authorities in confidence, in order to arrest the related offender as soonest. The whistle-blowers and those who are arrested are being given a deserved and confidential reward, and that security forces are carrying out necessary measures around the clock to ensure in maintaining community peace and tranquillity, in strengthening law enforcement and in preventing and arresting crimes and criminals.
